Berlin Tegel Airport

Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) is the most important international airport in Berlin. Find out the best ways to get to the city center from this airport terminal.

Only 8 kilometers (4.97 miles) from the city center, Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) is the main airport in the German capital; however, it is expected to close in 2018. The new Berlin Brandenburg Airport is currently under construction and will completely replace Tegel Airport.

One of the main reasons why the airport is closing is its closeness to the city center, as the aircraft noise is unbearable for the neighboring houses.
