Delve into the political history of Germany's capital and learn the secrets hidden behind its most iconic monuments on this tour through West Berlin.

West Berlin Tour

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the famous Brandenburg Gate, where we'll embark on a tour of West Berlin, the political enclave made up of the western section of the city during the Cold War.

First, we'll make our way to Potsdamer Platz, a historic square where we'll find the Sony Center, a complex that is hard to miss with its massive dome and colorful lighting. Next, we'll pass by the tent-like Berliner Philharmonie, and what remains of the famous Hotel Esplanade, one of the city's most luxurious hotels at the start of the 20th century. Fun fact: this hotel was visited by icons like Charlie Chaplin and Greta Garbo!

Continuing our route, we'll arrive at Platz der Republik, or 'Republic Square', to check out important government buildings like the Federal Chancellery and the glass-domed Reichstag Building, which houses the German parliament.

Next stop? Bellevue Palace! This is the official residence of the President of Germany, which dates all the way back to 1786. Then, we check out the Victory Column and the Bismarck Memorial, while the guide tells us all about their historical significance.

For the last part of the tour, we'll take a bus to Kurfürstendamm, one of Berlin's most popular avenues. Here, we'll go on a short stroll to see some of its many shops and cafés, while the guide reveals interesting details about the city's transformation after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
